Some folks like to bake when they have cabin fever.... I make homemade soap!  It's a great time to stock those shelves, eh?    Happy soaping to all!

Hi Becky,

You are so creative! I really like the Pink Lavender for its mouth-watering, tantalizing design--so nice! and the Lemon-Mint Chiffon for its color scheme. I am sure the Eucalyptus & Mint emits a superb fragrance.

Which of these soaps are your favorites and why? Also, which of these soaps have you received the best reviews on yet--perhaps from your family:)

Thanks!

Wow--I'm having a hard time choosing a favorite. They're all so beautiful! Maybe if I HAD to choose one, I'd pick Flynn, or maybe Lemon Mint Chiffon. ....Or maybe Orange Spice, or then again..... :-) They're all great! Thanks for posting them!

Hi Michael, Thanks for your comment! I love the Pink Lavender - I really like the way the lavender buds show up against the pink soap. Eucalyptus-Mint has been my classic "lye soap" fragrance and is always a bestseller...thought I would try that combo in a superfatted soap this time.

My fragrance combo of this lot is probably a toss up between Lava Lamp 2011 and Moonlit Garden. They both complex EO blends -which I rather like. Kind of wakes up the brain & nose, I think....lots to sort out in the mix!

Lavender is always popular here with my family. You know how that is, I'm sure. All these different soaps and their carefully concocted fromulas & fragrances are just "no big deal" to them! :)

Thanks Amy -they were sure fun to make. I'll tell you what, I spent a LOT of time today cutting and photographing soap! One of these days I will cough up the money for one of those fancy soap cutters and save myself a bunch of time. :)

'Bongs, you've forgotten more about photography than I'll ever know, and your pointers on "Taking Better Soap Photos" have made a tremendous difference for me so Thank You so much! (I couldn't find the link on your site just now....if you can post it here again, I'm sure it will help someone else very much!) So kind of you to share your expertise, as always! :)

Thanks Jen, I was in one of my grit-your-teeth "Grrrr, I'm going to get some decent pictures, even if I freeze to death on the pack porch with camera in hand!" moods yesterday! LOL! Sometimes that extra "umph" of ....ahem.....seeing someone's LOVELY NEW WEBSITE/BLOG is, well, INSPIRING! So thank you for that Miss Jen! xo :)

Thanks Jan, But if I can do it ANYONE can! Don't give up. Read Cocobong's tips. Here are the 'Bong's tips that really helped me:
1) Natural light (overcast day is best)
2) Get close (and I have to still do some cropping..think Gloria Swanson: "I'm ready for my closup Mr. DeMille" LOL!)
3) Shoot from different angles (feels "weird" at the time, but really adds interest)
4) You may have to adjust the "light thingy" on your camera. (Even my little $99 Nikkon has it....I think it's called "exposure compensation" -yep, that's the term.)

Sounds too simple to be true, but Cocobong's tips have helped my soap photos immensely. You really can do it, Jan! Good Luck :D
