Eureka! The Lavender is LAVENDER!

Is there anything like a batch of natural lavender soap.....handmade....that actually turns out a pretty lavender color?!  I'm so excited ....I know for many of you this is no big deal, but I've had "issues" shall we say, in getting a "lavender" color (or anything close, for that matter.)

This is all natural soap, including the colorants.  I used both Alkanet Root Powder and Pink Clay to obtain this color.  I'm hoping that it stays this way, but of course only time will tell.

Here it is:

It's the closest I've been to a light dusty purple, which is what I wanted...so I'm pleased as punch with the outcome.  It's so nice when you try something and it actually works, isn't it?

Happy Soaping everyone!

How beautiful is that? oh you clever girl! getting the right purple is just so hard when you do it the natural way. Would love to know how you keep the dried lavender good on the top, I've tried a few times and it just seems to go mouldy on me, maybe it's the humidity here:( anyhows, great job Becky!

Hi Jan! Well.....I'm not so sure about "clever"....I think "lucky" is more like it! LOL! That lavender has been sitting in a ziplock bag for AGES! It's still a fabulous color...and it's as dry as dirt. Not sure how that happened! (again, lucky -not clever! :))

Well look at you. Another job well done my friend - that looks as fine as frog hair. Yep, what's not to love about a nice handmade lavender soap. xo

What a lovely purple, Becky! Alkanet has always been an interesting ingredient for me to work with because I never know what kind of colour I'll end up having! ;)

Hi Becky,

Good for you. It looks great at this point. You are so right that time can have the potential to wreak havoc on soap. But you really put a lot of thought and creativity into this Lavender soap. It is a really nice shade of purple!

I hope it turns out as well as you hope.

Thanks Becky!

Natural colorants in CP are always tricky. Great job. It turned out beautiful and I love that you can say it's ALL natural. Woohoo!
