Lemongrass & Palmarosa Body Bar

My latest inspiration/experiment.  Carrot tissue oil in the lemongrass half  to make it nice and yellow, but the top....oh, the top....I had hoped for green!  It's palmarosa EO with ground parsley.  (I steeped it in the lye-water solution.)  It doesn't smell like it looks.  To me the top part should maybe have a soft, vanilla-ish scent.  But it doesn't.  It smells GREEN!  Like fresh cut grass or hay.   Not a bad smell, but it doesn't match the look.

So, once again, I'm searching for a name for my "unique" outcome!  Maybe "Mow the yard & drink lemonade"?  hehehe    I'm having a hard time with this one, folks.  If you think of a catchy name I would sure appreciate the idea!

Happy Skin!  ~Becky

Hi Becky, Another lovely soap. You are really taking off with this appearance experimenting! Carrot Tissue oil gives a nice yellow but I have found it really fades. Still yellow but... Anyway, I am horrible at naming.... so I won't be much help but this one reminds me of lemon merange pie? xo Jen

Looks great, but I'm no good with names. I have been waiting to try parsley and did put it into oil, but it refused to give colour to it. So I would have thought that it would turn green in water. They say parsley is supposed to be great for green!??

Ambra, best and most stable/lasting green results I've gotten so far was with nettle (did a post on that in my blog)..

Hmmmm. Nettle? I'll go check your blog. Thanks for the tip! Does it add much of a smell to the soap? The parsley is a bit strong smelling. ~Becky

It looks beautiful. My ideas for a name are: Fresh or Clean Green.

Becky, your "hopt process" is my "helpy", remember...?Anyway, yes I've done HP soap in my oven and just recently treated myself to a crockpot for soaping purpose. Haven't tried that so far but am about to. The oven method works well, too. I do like the look of HP soaps, very archaic and rugged, which works well with sweet and earthy scents like sandalwood or amber..Give HP a try and if you need more input mail me. Nettle hardly adds any scent, and actually none if you use the tea only (minus the pulp, which can make for a more darker green). I use my nettle base for soaps scented with 'green' scents, like patchouli or sweet basil..or even lemongrass

What's wrong with Lemongrass & Palmarosa Body Bar? :) Ask Courtney - Courtney Robyn's Nest. She's creative with the names! The soap did turn out very pretty - even if it wasn't quite what you were hoping for!

Beautiful soap Becky! I agree, Lemongrass & Palmarosa body bar sounds good! wouldn't it be great if we didn't have to rack our brains trying to think of great sounding names to entice people? it would be so much easier just to call them, yellow and white bar or plain green soap, but definately doesn't sound as good LOL. We must have been thinking along the same lines, I finished a new bar with carrot tissue oil a few weeks ago and haven't used it before so I'm hoping the colour does last a while. I've been a bit slack about getting photos and posting it but will try in the next few days as it's just about finished curing.

Cocobong, Thanks for your encouragement! I appreciate your helpy...can't wait to try hopt process! : )I guess I'll have to find some nettle...my parsley experiment really didn't green up.Have you found that colors are less distorted in HP soap? I've heard that scents are stronger and less "altered". ~Becky

Boy, it would sure be nice if we didn't need to think about names so much! And stunning photography...and flowery descriptions.I don't know about you all, but my soap sells WAY better/faster/more when folks can pick it up and smell/touch it in person...pictures and words just don't do any of our handmade soaps (our "babies") justice, do they?

Becky, have never fussed w/ color in HP soaps, because I really like that rugged look w/ lots of structure (bumps and all). Most of mine HP soaps are all shades of tan to brown and when combined with the 'right' scent, that works just fine. More and more I'm turning into a no-fuss gal (must be a 4o thing..) so at this point I don't bother with names for my soap anymore. They are numbered as I make them and that's what their name will be. Photography...I'm junky when it comes to visuals, so I just can't help(y) that. I think I do that more for my own pleasure..the whole eye candy thing. Descriptions...I limit it to what the soap smells like so a reader can get an idea, but I don't believe in elaborate essays on what this or that soap will do for your skin. Most of that is wishful thinking that sells. What it boils down to: A good soap cleans, doesn't dry out and smells pleasant (if at all)
