A Sweet Prize from Texas!

Some of you may know that I was lucky enough to win the drawing for a Lovely Basket filled with Three Lovely Soaps from my soapin' pal Michele at Tierra Verde Handmade Soaps.  Let me warn you, you're gonna be jealous when you see this...

The pumpkin basket is adorable (sorry my photo is not the best) there's Indian corn in there, tied with a lovely ribbon...almost to pretty to open ....but not quite! ;D

Check out these soaps....

they are just as gorgeous in person as they are on her website.  Even I, as pictorially challenged as I am could get a lovely shot of these babies!  The packaging is to die for -one lovelier than the next.  The three soaps I received are "Oatmilk & Almond"  left,   "Oatmeal, Milk & Honey" center with the lovely oat-flecked top, and "Star Anise" right, which is amazing, and, strangely, reminds me of Easter!

Smells like a black jelly bean, and I am suddenly transported back in time to 1971 or so,  eating Easter candy with my sister from our Easter baskets,  in the nearly-dark living room before sunrise service (hence the near-darkness) Easter morning!   What a lovely and unexpected memory -all from a bar of soap.  Amazing!

Thanks Michele, for the lovely basket, soaps and the unexpected trip down Memory Lane!

Don't you love soap swaps? Or gifts from fellow soapers? How nice. Your description is great, the photos are nice... especially the one outside. Is that where you live? Wonderful outdoors! Do you mow that lawn...? I could just smell the fir tree behind the soaps... I miss those. You always seem so up and positive and grateful in every post - wonderful qualities. Loving the new blog heading with the photo.... what is the story of the photo? xo Jen

Hi Jen,

Yes, I absolutely LOVE soap swaps -fun fun fun! Yep, that's outside our sunroom -I get to watch the glorious sunrises right from my exercise bike! I feel very blessed to live in "the country" -I've been a Rural Girl most of my life.

The lawn gets mowed by me sometimes, sometimes hubby, but it's done with a John Deere, and it's a very relaxing and meditative activity. At least now that I'm better with the mower and don't take out clotheslines, small bushes etc. LOL!)

Let me tell you, I have my crabby dark days, too.. (just ask one of "the boys" -Hubby , Son or Dog) -fortunately (for those around me) that's not my normal M.O. My faith give me joy, in that I know that what goes on in my life is 1. Only Temporary 2. No comparison to what Christ went through for me and 3. All things, even REALLY BAD STUFF works together for my good. (Rom. 8:28) Those are what I try to remember when I'm down...I stink at it.....but I try to keep them in mind!

The story of the picture? That's my Dad's mother in her wedding dress. She died of pneumonia when he was just about 2 years old, and she was, I believe 27. I didn't know her, of course, but I think she's lovely and has a rather "Mona Lisa" quality to her sGranmile. The photo is an heirloom, so I think it's fi tting the label. (This "tragic" story is one of the ways I SEE Romans 8:28 in my life, as I had the MOST WONDERFUL Grandma in the WORLD in my Dad's "stepmother". She was the best, but I don't have any "young" photos of her. If I ever find one, she will be on some of the labels, too -I guarantee that!)

So there you have it , Jen! Probably TMI, but thanks so much for asking. :D

Have a great day! ~Becky
