Moonlit Lavender? Lavender Mist?

I was pouring soap for a special-order...my regular ol' Lavender Oatmeal.  However, the order was not going to be an entire batch, soooo...Becky decided to get creative with the remaining soap.

I used some Alkanet powder, mixed with just a tad bit of olive oil, mixed in at trace.

The results are rather un-remarkable.  The top of the soap is actually a nice "frosty" lavender.  The rest though, I just don't know.  I sure hope it gets a bit more lavender-ey as it cures.

I do like it better than the old way with no color.  At least I can look at it and know immediately what variety it is. (Without my normal "crazed sniffing" -a great benefit of colored soaps -no matter how pitiful the color may be! he he)

I'm sure it will grow on me...it seems they always do after a day or so, when I've released my expectations and just appreciate them as they are.

At least no one will say "Oh, they're too pretty to use!"  LOL   Boy do they smell good, though!  : )

I can't decide whether to call it Moonlit Lavender,  Lavender Mist, or maybe Lavender Frost....what do you think?   Would any of these names help you decide to buy this funky colored soap?

Happy Skin!

I just LOVE The look of this soap. Something special and original about it. The 3 names are gorgeous but I like Moonlit Lavender the best... This is one of those soaps that the photo pulls me back to look at it again and again. The EO - it is pure lavender? A blend? I have a hard time getting lavender scent to stick... any tips? xo Jen

That is a nice bar of soap, and I have to confess, I'm a bit of a soap sniffer myself, as I often don;t use colour.Like Jen, all 3 names are good, but I like Lavender Frost as the top of the soap looks like it has a dusting of frost.

Thanks ladies! My first idea was Moonlit Lavender...then I came up with Lavender Frost. I still haven't decided which I like better. The lavender I used is "Lavender Pure 40/42%"Lavandula Officinalis -France.It seems to hold really well. I've used the same variety from Bulgaria and it was nice as well. Always one of my best sellers. : )

So my vote could break this tie, huh? ;) I like both the Moonlit and the Frost names but I think I prefer.....Lavender Frost because of that white top. From the picture, my first thought goes to 'sand.' It looks kinda sandy colored, with little sandy speckles. lolVery nice looking soap!~Deb

No, no, no Lavender Mist is my favorite. It's so romantic, in a spooky kinda way :)

Oh my! So far it's lavender frost, I guess...it's really hard to decide when you like all the names! I'm really hoping a few more folks weigh in with their opinions -maybe then one name will emerge as the clear choice.I know "A rose is a rose" and all that, but I don't think poor Juliet ever sold soap! : )

Just wanted to add another vote:) I agree with Ambra, I think Lavender Mist really suits it, kind of mysterous:) Love the look of it. I use french lavender in my lavender soap too and it seems to stick really well.

Thanks for the tips on how to get Lavender EO stick... maybe just the quality of oils? I will keep trying. I want to add that I really like Lavender Mist as well. I like all 3 but I think Lavender Mist could do very well... xo Jen

Thanks ladies! Here's my idea: I'll label 3 of the 6 bars as "Lavender Mist" and the other 3 as "Lavender Frost", put the "Lavender Mist" bars in one shop and the "Lavender Frost" bars in another shop and see which ones sell first. The tricky part will be duplicating this rather bizarre look. After all, this is alkanet we're dealing with here...we all know the varied results that is gives -"for no particular reason whatever." (what's with me and the Forrest Gump quotes???)Thanks for all your input. I wish you could smell this one -it's REALLY lavender!
