I've been doing a lot of soaping (mostly in my mind) and planning....trying to decide which homemade  soap varieties to offer in 2011.   Wondering, as always, what would most delight my customers.   That's the $64,000.00 question......hmmmmm...."Hey, Becky (I said to myself) why not ask them??"  "Brilliant!" Your soaps are great!
Really, I would have a very hard time choosing :)

It's really hard to pick just one scent or one scent combo as my favorite, but one that I find absolutely refreshing and delicious is a blend of lemongrass and eucalyptus. It's a "wake me up, want to take a bite" kind of scent. Yum!

I agree with Robin's comment that it is hard to pick just one....but for now, I'll say that two of my favorites are the Lava Lamp soap you did and Lavendar Mist.

Well count me in. Hmmm, favorite summer fragrance - probably anything in the citrus family. I am especially fond or orange.

I love any soap that has mint fragrance in it. I had a bar I really liked that was lemon and mint together. Fresh and full of Energy!

I love Lemon Verbena and Lavender&Patchouli (2p Lav - 1p Patch)

Hi Becky,

I vote for the Autumn Love with its woodsy blend of sandalwood and vanilla fragrance oils. I also like the fact that is contains both shea butter and mango butter. Autumn is my favorite time of year, after Christmas.

Also my favorite soap fragrance so far is Almond Biscotti.

Thanks for doing this. Great idea!

I love the scent of lemongrass in homemade soaps.

I've become a huge fan of ylang ylang, clary sage and palmarosa EOs. I also love neroli. I'm trying to ween myself off of lavender but it's tough. :)

Hi Suzanne, Yes I will be re-creating Lava Lamp....hopefully in Jan or Feb. Have to order some necessary eo's which have gotten desperately low through the last few months. :) That was a tricky one, and I hope fickle Alkanet gives me a similar result in the color!

I have never done just a Lemongrass-Eucalyptus soap....hmmmm....that really does sound good. Thanks so much for your input! :)

I, too, LOVE orange. I've only been able to make it stick in my old Orange-Rosemary Soap that I did back in '08. I've tried the "cornstarch-thang" but I didn't care for the residue. I've also tried May Chang, but it seems to overpower the orange. I've heard a bit about 10 fold orange....does that "hold" any better?

thesoapsister said...

See? Now that sounds good, too! I wonder if May Chang would hold up well with the mint.....it's just so very L-E-M-O-N-E-Y. Seems to hold in CP soap so much better than lemon e.o. Thanks for the comment, and good luck in the drawing!

Autumn Love is a "reminiscing fragrance" for me. It takes me back every time I smell it. Scent is funny that way, isn't it? I have never done an Almond Biscotti soap, but my "Almond-Oatmeal-Honey" is one of my most popular bars....yummmm. :)

My favorite scent is rose geranium hands down!
And guess what? Even my hubby loves that scent, who would've known?

You're in the majority, Elaine! Lemongrass has always been one of my best-selling varieties. The lemon-ey fragrance is such a great pick-me-up. Good luck in the drawing! :)

Oh I love a good ylang ylang, too! Palmarosa is one I use, too -so fresh and outdoorsy. Have never used clary sage in my soap.....at least not yet. :) I know what you mean about lavender, it's almost addictive... Thanks for the comment, and good luck Brenda!

Hi Maggie, I have used geranium in soap....it's very well-received, especially by customers who have eczema, but I don't think I have ever used rose geranium. Does it smell a lot like rose? Geranium has gotten so wildly expensive in the last year or so that I haven't made a geranium batch in a LONG time.

I love rose scents, especially slightly citrusy ones!

I love rose scents

I'd have to pick something citrus-y for my favorite natural scent. Equal parts 5-fold orange and litsea cubeba smells rather nice. In fact, I may need to make that one again! :)

My favorite EO changes all the time, today I'm loving bergamot blends!

And your Tea Tree Eucalyptus Poppyseed bar looks to die for!

thesoapsister said...

Thanks Anne-Marie, the Tea Tree-Eucalyptus-Poppyseed went over very well, so I'll be making more very soon!

Hi Becky,

Yes, Rose Geranium has that wonderful rosy scent! Since both rose and geranium are relatively pricey, I've stopped putting it in my soaps too..

I've used both 10-fold and 5-fold orange with wonderful results. The 10-fold I use is clear in color and the 5-fold is orange. My orange spice soap is a combo of orange 5-fold, patchouli and clove and I love the warm, light orange color of the bars. Achieving the beautiful orange color without an added colorant makes my day!
